Will Europeans react with trust and humanity, when a stranger knocks on the door? 

ABOUT
A mosaic story of trust and hospitality comprised of encounters with strangers as a filmmaker bikes through Europe, knocking on random doors in search of food, shelter, and water. When asked to help an uninvited stranger, how will everyday Europeans react? “A Journey and the Doors” is an experimental voyage over the threshold of countryside farms, suburban houses, big city apartment complexes, and refugee camps. From doorstep to doorstep, we slowly enter the homes and lives of the people standing behind the closed doors of Europe.

DIRECTOR’S STATEMENT
In my films, I try to open new doors to unknown worlds and explore, whether or not humanity transcends cultural differences. It can be a very disturbing feeling to be at the mercy of a complete stranger, and I wanted to put myself in that place. As an experiment in 2019, I set out on my bike from Denmark to reach the Mediterranean Sea, where migrants enter Europe. I wanted to test the state of trust and hospitality in the midst of Brexit and the migration crisis in Europe, and every day I searched for a new home and knocked on random doors on my way. What would happen, how would they react? How would I? And what if the uninvited stranger was a person from Syria? The film confronts the individual: when you unexpectedly find yourself face to face with a stranger in need of help, will you still be sceptical towards the unknown?
